Johnny Hornby

Founding Partner

Johnny graduated from Edinburgh University and moved straight into a career in advertising by joining Ogilvy & Mather as a graduate trainee.

Having cut his teeth at O&M he moved to CDP where he became a Board Account Director in 1995.  In the same year Johnny was also picked out by Campaign Magazine as a ‘Face to Watch’.

In just 3 years at CDP Johnny was responsible for accounts such as Honda across Europe, Panasonic, MGM, the Early Learning Centre and JAL.  He also became their Client Services director before leaving in 1998 to join TBWA.

At TBWA Johnny was responsible for Nissan, Virgin, the COI, The Big Issue, Holsten, Absolut, Apple and Habitat.  Within just 18 months, he had been made Joint Managing Director.

His last act at TBWA was to be responsible for winning and running the campaign that saw Labour to a second landslide victory in 2001.  The following day he tendered his resignation along with Simon Clemmow to form Clemmow Hornby Inge.

10 years on, CHI&Partners as it is now known has grown to be a full service agency offering advertising, direct, digital, design and media planning & buying to a list of blue chip clients including RBS, Toyota and British Gas.
