Client: easyJet
Brand: easyJet

For this project we designed a seat selection service into the easyJet booking experience.

We needed to generate new seat revenue through an easy-to-use process, preserving overall performance in a highly optimised booking flow. Carefully crafted design made sure that the strategic decision to introduce allocated seats was translated into a successful user experience. Happier customers, higher revenue: the win/win.

The company’s business performance and share value strengthened substantially after launch. easyJet’s Chief Executive has cited the successful implementation of allocated seating as a significant factor in their recent results.

“easyJet has said its decision to introduce allocated seating on flights has attracted older passengers and business travellers who once shunned the airline Carolyn McCall, easyJet's Chief Executive, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that allocated seating was the single most popular thing the airline had done for its customers.” The Guardian (14/05/14) “Easyjet saw a 51% rise in yearly pre-tax profits to £478m, partly thanks to the introduction of allocated seats. Chief Executive Carolyn McCall said allowing passengers to book their seats had had a big impact on profitability.” BBC News 19/11/13)
