Mark Whelan started his career in ad agencies CDP and DFGW. In the mid 1990s he formed branded entertainment agency Cake, which was acquired by Havas in 2008. At Cake he created ground-breaking initiatives such as The Orange Playlist TV show, the Evian branded swimming pool, Carlings Cold Beer Amnesty and the multi award-winning Ikea “Sleepover in Our Store” social media campaign. Recently he directed the launch of Rihanna’s range for River Island and global launch of One Direction’s fragrances, making him something of a teen idol.
