Kindred Wins PR Campaign for Universities UK/GuildHE Student Accommodation Code

09 June, 2011 - Source: Kindred

Kindred has been appointed by Universities UK and GuildHE to deliver a campaign to raise awareness of The Student Accommodation Code.

The Code, which protects students’ rights to safe, good quality university accommodation, was initially developed in 2006 as a sector initiative to promote high standards of university-managed accommodation. Kindred will help to raise awareness of the Code beyond the sector, to students and their influencers.

The primary objectives of the campaign are to show students how the Code can help if they have a problem with their accommodation and to demonstrate the positive impact that the Code has had on standards of student accommodation to students, parents and industry stakeholders.

The programme will involve a re-brand, comprising of a new logo and strapline; a stakeholder engagement element; and proactive media relations targeting students, parents, careers advisers and secondary school teachers.

The Kindred team, led by Client Services Director, Lorna Gozzard will be reporting in to Mark Swales Director of Estates and Facilities at Sheffield Hallam University and Chair of the UUk Sector Advisory Group for the Code who said:

“We are really proud of what we have already achieved with the Student Accommodation Code, which has significantly helped to improve standards of university-managed student accommodation. Because of this, it’s vital that more students and their influencers are aware of the Code too, and we are looking forward to working with Kindred to publicise our work. Kindred has experience in the education sector and their enthusiasm for campaign set them apart from the other agencies.”

The Student Accommodation Code PR campaign will run from May 2011 to December 2011.
