Sue began her career by training as a multi-lingual interpreter until a holiday spell on the advertising agency reception desk convinced her that the ‘never a dull moment’ nature of agency life was for her.
She rapidly progressed from receptionist to account manager to media planner and joined McCann Manchester in 1985 as a Media Group Head specialising in retail and direct media planning.
Sue became Executive Media Director of McCann Manchester in 1988 and launched the first Universal McCann in the UK, which then became the largest media buying point outside London.
In 1998, Sue moved from media into agency management becoming MD and subsequently CEO of McCann Manchester and in this role she has created the largest integrated agency in the UK.
During this period the agency has gone from strength to strength by offering its client base which includes organisations such as London 2012, Aldi, UPS, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Sainsbury’s Bank, American Airlines, SSL International, TUI and the NHS – an unrivalled integrated communications offering which is currently being enhanced even further by major digital growth.
