Chief Strategy Officer

With more than 20 years’ experience gained at some of the world’s leading network agencies including DDB, BBH, WCRS, Laurence was responsible for building and developing a 10-strong team of multidisciplined strategists at AKQA’s award-winning Amsterdam office. He relocated to join Rufus as chief strategy
officer in April 2015.

Heading up Rufus’ ever-expanding strategy team, Laurence is responsible for providing the overall strategic vision and direction for 
the agency both internally and externally, creating bespoke and rewarding brand experiences for Rufus’ clients, which include PizzaExpress, Lloyds Banking Group, the AA and Stagecoach.

Laurence’s client experience spans multiple sectors, having previously driven brand comms and new product and service development for major global brands including Sony, Marmite, Guinness, Audi, MINI, Reuters and The Economist. Particular highlights include developing the concept and design for Sainsbury’s ‘Be Good To Yourself’ range
and more recently helping Philips develop its first connected product offerings, which are thought to have added $500m to the brand’s share price.

A regular industry voice, Laurence’s specialist subjects include brand and communications strategy, product, service and experience design CRM, business transformation, lean principles and data-driven decision making.

As a former Campaign ‘Face to Watch’, Laurence has collected many awards throughout his career including a Gold Cannes Cyber Lion and Gold IPA Effectiveness awards.
