Co-founder, CEO & CCO

Neil’s passion for his work, boundless creativity and an understanding for what clients need has made him a guiding light at Rufus - and a prominent and well-respected industry figure.

A graduate of Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication in south-east London, he was hired by IBM’s European Design Centre after finishing his studies before moving on to celebrated design consultancy Wolff Olins – becoming Creative Director at just 24.

During his time there he was instrumental in creating and developing brands for Prudential, Midland Bank, Repsol and ICI, and cemented his reputation as a gifted and forward-thinking ideas man. In 1989 he
and Darrel Worthington (a Wolff Olins colleague and our current Chief experience officer) left to set up Rufus.

Neil has led consultancy projects establishing brand, digital and change management systems for Shell International, Visa, the European Commission, Lloyds Banking Group, Accenture and the V&A to name just a few.

As CEO and CCO he takes responsibility for the company’s overall direction, strategy and vision. He plays a leading role in business development, and ensures that all work meets our high standards reflective in the long-standing nature of many of our clients.

Neil is also a trustee of two legal charities (Witness Confident and Environmental Law Foundation) and co-author of a number of books including The Knowledge Manager and Beautiful Corporations.
