A digital presence for a publishing classic

Client: Penguin Random House
Brand: Penguin Books

Our challenge
Penguin Books is an iconic publisher steeped in innovation and design excellence. We were asked to help realise a new digital future for Penguin online, with discovery, engagement, and delighting audiences our guiding principles.

What we did
The project was all about understanding Penguin’s evolving audience and figuring out the role of readers and publishers in a fast evolving digital space.

Through workshops, interviews, audience analysis and insight we defined who the new site was for, then developed the site structure, user flow and wireframes, to create a user-focused site and UX that would really engage readers. Particular attention was played to the role of the brand within the content heavy site, and how we could surface enough of the orange and the Penguin itself visually to maintain interest and retain a sense of character.

How did we do?
The result is a totally refreshed site, ready for the challenges of an evolving publishing world where Penguin, the stories they tell and readers they reach are all united.
