Never before have consumers been so well guided towards good product choices. SEO, price-and-quality comparison websites, social media networks... etc. So far the final product selection has been left mainly to the consumer’s personal discretion. Yet maybe we can optimise decision-making by compressing that discretion and, as a result, embrace services which process choice options on our behalf, automatically, and select and activate the best one. Will consumers willingly reduce their choice-power, and ultimately become slaves to the algorithm?
We look at new, value-added comparison services in a variety of financial services markets, that may be the start of a new relationship between consumers and “intelligent choice agents”.
